Traditional Stone Carving

In this one-day workshop facilitated by sculptor Marc Kelly, participants will learn the basics of stone carving using locally sourced Sandstone and specialist tooling.

Participants will be assisted individually in the design and carving of their stone tablet and made ready for internal or exterior display at their home. Participants can aim to achieve a relief carved emblem/ design with some lettering during the classes using traditional methods.

Materials provided including 2 stones each, one being a small garden feature size [1.5-2ft in height x 1ft wide approx.]. Drawing equipment is provided which also forms an important part of the class. Stencils/ templates are provided but free hand and new design work is encouraged before carving commences.
